Wed Dec 25 13:02:33 CET 2024 Recent news indicated once again Donald Trump has his sights set on Greenland. For a good reason! Let me explain. Carbonation of the atmosphere is causing global warming... ermm climate change. What this means is that Greenland and Antarctic is currently melting during their summer months. All this water is fresh. Meaning it is not salinated. Meaning there may be (I'm only guessing) an economic profit, in transporting the run-off to human markets as compared to desalinating water on site at those markets. So for example: A country like Saudi Arabia is mostly powered by combusting fossil fuels in order to run desalination plants to enjoy fresh water. Is the price of this oil/gas/diesel/petrol burning above or below, the scenario that water is transported per ship in the thousands of cubic meters (!) to port a profit for the operator? And that is where my guessing ends, because I don't know the price of desalination per 1000 liters nor do I know how expensive transporting 1000 liters in a large tanker for a few thousand nautical miles would be. My tip then is. If the answer is yes! Then I suggest to Greenland Inuit to quickly act. There is a few conditions you may want to read at the end of this (keep this in mind). My idea for you is that you could zone Greenland in three zones. One for Asian, one for American and one for European enterprises to transport the run-off water into their respective markets. This ensures that all run-off is maximised in transport. It is highly lucrative and will fill your banks with currency of some kind. The conditions for you however should be considered. Will increased shipping cause more CO2 to be put in the atmosphere speeding this process entirely. So you may open your lands for the extraction of fresh water, but you may say the law is "you may only transport it off if you use regenerative fuels such as hydrogen, which don't harm the atmosphere any more". Otherwise the entire effort is for the rats. Fuel cell technology exists. Kite pulling shipping exists. The only missing element here is the Hydrogen, which doesn't exist to this scale. Please see my last article about the Hudson bay Hydrogen project which really could be implemented anywhere (sweden, russia, etc). The race is for another reason. The run-off from Greenland is threatening to launch Europe into another ice age. This has been theorized. If that happens, all progress towards a "green" europe is negated and old technologies will be pulled out to "heat homes". Really put, you have to act fast, act smart, and then you have the opportunity to make a little profit. The entire world is invited to comment, if they participate it's a good thing. -pjp PS: The earth naturally, as in a natural process took millions of years to desalinate this water, it would be like watching money that has real value burn in front of your eyes to watch this water become brackish (the meaning of brackish means the mixing of fresh and salinated water) and salinated.
